2006
NRCHA World Championship Show
Kimmy, from Somis, California, started competing in cow horse events when she was 8 years old. Since then, she has earned the 2006 SCRCHA 13 and Under Limited Championship, the 2006 AZRCHA Youth Limited Championship, the 2006 Clyde Kennedy Medal and 2005 NRCHA top 10 Youth Limited honors. Her horse, known around the arena as "Susie", is an 18-year-old Doc's Hickory mare, out of Queen O'Bowie, which came from Shelton Ranches. Kimmy believes that the mare is a winner because she is consistent and has a huge heart. "She is very smart, sweet and very hot sometimes, but forgiving and lovable," Kimmy said. Kimmy also competes in Western Horsemanship, Trail, Western Pleasure and Reining events. In her spare time she is a member of the 4-H where she raises and breeds rabbits. She also enjoys playing the violin and singing. A 2006 highlight for Kimmy was winning a breeding to Carol Rose's stallion Shiners Lena Doc at the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity. "I will be breeding my horse (Susie) in 2007," she said. "I am looking forward to raising a foal out of my mare." Kimmy owes special thanks to the horses she has ridden and shown. She also wishes to thank her parents, who she considers great mentors. "Thanks to my mom and dad for teaching me so much about horses and for giving me the opportunity to go show," Kimmy said. "They have also taught me how to love and enjoy my horses."
