The
Ferrante Family has been training horses for over 150 years. George's
grandfather was born in Firenze, Italy. His father Joe Ferrante
trained, worked & handled horses throughout his life as well as
becoming well known in the Rodeo arena. Joe, was born the day
World War I ended, November 11, 1918. He started rodeoing 20
years later and has been at it ever since.
Growing
up around horses was natural in the Ferrante family. And at age
8, George started his on-screen career as a stunt rider in Disney's
"Spin & Marty" Episodes (shown
at right, horsing around on the set and below, with Annette Funicello),
as well as "Westward Ho the Wagons".
Appearing
on screen and off in rodeos, George came into his own as a
professional horse trainer and showman. George is now a NCHA
Cutting Horse Judge, who is well known in the United States, Canada
and Italy for his cutting, horsemanship clinics and consulting. His
students have won current world titles in both open and non-pro
competitions.
George
met and married Kathie and have two daughters,
Kimberly, and Josie. They show in cutting and rein cow horse shows.
Kathie is also an accomplished cutting and reined cow horse trainer
with two world titles. A respected riding instructor whose students
have won current world titles. She also is a NRCHA Judge.
Together
they have trained a number of our own champion horses, including "Monta
Docs Joe" (PCCHA open futurity cutting champion), "Monta
Doc Cola" (NCHA derby cutting finalist), and "Monta
Doc Marie" (PCCHA Open Breeders Classic, PCCHA, lassic, Reon
Classic Finalist).
The
Ferrante's have also trained other champion horses, including "Cutters
Smart Star" (NRCHA Gold & Silver Lt. Open Hackamore
champion), "Ima Chex Coyote" (NRCHA Amatuer Snaffle
Bit Futurity Champion), and "Yellers Golden Lilly"
(NRCHA Youth Bridle Champion), plus many other show winners.
